The now former Scarlet Knight coach had an impressive 11 year run at Rutgers starting in 2001. The first few years were a rebuilding time but from 2005 until this past season he had only one losing year, 2010.
Confession time. I do like the Giants but the Buccaneers are my favorite football team. What a rough season we just had. Change is good, right? According to the official Tampa Bay Buccaneers web site “For the first time since the arrival of inaugural Head Coach John McKay, the Buccaneers will give a star in the college coaching ranks his first opportunity to lead an NFL team.” Unfortunately the inaugural season for the Bucs lead to an infamous 0-14 season. College coaches sometimes have a hard time in the NFL. It is a different animal than professional football. I have read a few sports sites and many do not think Greg will be a good fit for Tampa. I certainly hope he is and we wish him great success. Go Bucs!

Game Night for us usually means board games. Recently, though, we’ve tried some card games and have been enjoying the return to holding a hand of cards and a faster-paced game. Dutch Blitz is a great game that’s new to us but not that new in the game world. According to the game maker’s website, dutchblitz.com, it was invented by a German immigrant who wanted a game to help teach his children colors and numbers. Despite the Dutch name, it’s actually more related to the Pennsylvania Dutch/Amish communities than it is to people from Holland. It’s a fun game for young and old. We played with three adults and had a good time so you don’t need kids to enjoy this card game.

The Oscar Nominations were announced today. I was happy to see that my favorites in each of the 4 major categories were nominated.
Best Picture
“The Artist”
“The Descendants”
“Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close”
“Hugo”
“Midnight in Paris”
“The Help”
“Moneyball”
“War Horse”
“The Tree of Life”

My pick for best picture is ‘Midnight in Paris’. A funny and philosophical movie that takes you along on a fantasy and shows insight into how we view the past as well as how we live in the present. I also wouldn’t mind seeing The Descendants win, a great film that encompasses anguish, anger, confusion and forgiveness in a masterful way.
Who wouldn’t want to see Katherine Heigl kicking butt as a recovery agent for a bail bonding company? In the new film, ONE FOR THE MONEY she plays a girl born and bred in New Jersey who takes on this career as a result of extreme circumstances.
ONE FOR THE MONEY opens nationwide on Friday, January 27th and you can win a movie themed Prize Pack by entering our contest.
Share on FacebookLast week, the underdog New York Giants scored a surprising win over the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. It’s strange to see a team with a 15-1 record and the added advantage of playing at home in Lambeau Field perform so flat and ordinary, going out with a whimper as they did last week. It seems like the Packer wide receivers and tight ends just could not catch the ball. That is what happens sometimes when a team gets a bye week. They cool off. Hit the golf course Packers! This week the red hot Giants continue their amazing carpet ride winning streak into the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.
