Zombies!! They’re Coming to Get You, New Jersey!!

Garden State Zombies!!

Who’s ready to eat some flesh?  On Saturday, October 30th, the 3rd Annual NJ Zombie Walk will take place in Asbury Park.  Zombies from all over will descend on the shore town to wreak some havoc.  We were there last year and it is a lot of fun.  What makes this event even more exciting is that The New Jersey Zombie Walk has received the OK from the Guinness Book of World Records to attempt to go for the record of Largest Zombie Walk.  The record is currently held by Seattle, WA and stands at 4,200.  Seattle?  C’mon Jersey, we should be able to top these Starbucks, grunge zombies!!

Brains!!!

In addition to the actual walk, organizers are still putting together events that will take place over the entire weekend.  You can check out the details here:  The New Jersey Zombie Walk website.

Check out some pics we took at last years walk.  Hopefully we will see you on October 3oth.  Got brains??

Disturbing News from Rutgers Today

We’re not a serious blog. But, when news from NJ gets this serious, I felt like I need to say something.

News broke today that a Rutgers student who was secretly filmed making out and having sex in his dorm room jumped off the GW Bridge last week after finding out about the recordings.  The student, Tyler Clementi, appeared to have everything going for him—he was bright, musically gifted and adorable.  So what went wrong?  His roommate filmed him having sex, twice.  For a straight kid, that would be embarrassing or maddening but certainly not the end of the world.  Fact is, if he’d been straight, the roommate probably wouldn’t have even bothered filming him.  But, Tyler was gay.  So, the roommate and his friend thought it was OK to film the encounters and tell everyone about it (he actually appears to have even Tweeted it!) so they could watch too.

So, what is it about being gay that makes people think that it’s OK to make fun of it and embarrass him like that?  And, what’s wrong with us that we would accept this behavior from people who are over 18 and legally adults?  We should be putting these students in jail for manslaughter because they basically drove him to suicide. Are we really that callous that we’re willing to just let it go?

I think we’ve heard too many news stories lately about teens and young adults killing themselves over online harassment. It’s time to do something to make it illegal and uncool to make fun of people.  What was once a private or nearly-private teasing on the playground or whispered about in hallways is now online and viewable by the entire world.  What are we going to do about this?

Bon Jovi No Longer Living on a Prayer That They’ll be Inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame… They’re In for 2011!

Bon Jovi

They are one of New Jersey’s most famous creations.  They’ve had more than 20 top ten hits. They’ve been together for more than 25 years.  They’ve opened Prudential Center AND the New Meadowlands Stadium.  And, they are still going strong. Fans all over the world have been Keeping the Faith. Their boys have really been around The Circle a few times.

So, why the big delay in getting them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Did they Give Love a Bad Name, get caught Living in Sin or take some Bad Medicine?

Bon Jovi has Always been kind of treated like a Social Disease and gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to street cred.  They seem to have a good attitude about it, maybe feeling that It’s My Life.

Week 3 – Giants and Jets Recap

NY Giants vs. Tennessee Titans

Why Does This Always Happen To Me?

How does a team who has more rushing yards and passing yards than the opposing team lose? Just ask the NY Giants about their Week 3 game against the Tennesse Titans and they will tell you the answer—you beat yourself and you find ways to lose. That is just what the Giants did against the Titans on Sunday as they outplayed them in every category, BUT still lost 29-10. Penalties, penalties and more penalties. Most of the time when the Giants reached the red zone, they found some way to lose the ball and turn it over to the Titans. Whether it was a fumble, an interception, or a unsportsmanlike penalty, the Giants found a way to not win.

Does New Jersey Really Need More Handguns?

Well, Christmas will be here before you know it.  Wouldn’t grandma enjoy a nice Walther PPK?

Eat Lead!

State senator Jeff Van Drew thinks the residents of New Jersey just find it too darn difficult to pick up and carry a handgun.  If there is anything that we need more of in New Jersey, it is guns!  Uh… right.

Jeff Van Drew

All this will lead to is me getting shot by some angry guy in a Hummer that thinks I cut him off on Route 80.  Now I understand the rights given under the Second Amendment.   However, does changing the concealed weapon law a good way for the state to generate extra revenue?

Giants and Jets Preview – Week Three

Laces Out Marino

NY Jets vs Miami Dolphins, 8:20 pm, Sunlife Stadium

How could I resist using a picture from “Ace Ventura, Pet Detective”?  Week 3 brings Rex Ryan and his rowdy Jets to the Sunshine State for another divisional battle, this time against the Miami Dolphins. Jets fans may see this as a piece of cake as it is, ehumm, the Miami Dolphins. But before everyone chalks this up as a win and are ready to put Mark Sanchez back on the king’s throne, check the standings. The Miami Dolphins are 2-0! Not only are they 2-0, but they just came off a win in which they held Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings to only 10 points!
