Discover Jersey Arts 2010 People’s Choice Awards

The awards are organized by the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation and the Discover Jersey Arts team. Discover Jersey Arts is dedicated to spreading awareness and support for professional and amateur non-profit arts groups in New Jersey. Their interactive website offers listings of different arts events and classes in the Garden State.

Among other towns, Millville gathered 4 nominations.

The Holly City’s arts district garnered four nominations for the New Jersey People’s Choice Awards through Discover Jersey Arts. The Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts (RRCA) is nominated in the category of Favorite Art Gallery.

Located on High Street, the RRCA is open seven days a week at 11 a.m. each day and displays four art galleries known as the North Gallery, Witt Gallery, Associate Artist Alcove, and the Atrium. All galleries are adorned with art by local artists from Millville.

The Southern Shore Music Festival was nominated in the category of Favorite Music Festival. Held at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds, the Southern Shore Music Festival is Cumberland County’s annual homage to Woodstock, touting over eight hours of peace and music. The festival features musicians and music groups from all over the United States and is usually held in June each year.

WheatonArts and Cultural Center is nominated for the Favorite Place to Take a Class in the Arts for Adults. WheatonArts is an educational village located on Glasstown Road dedicated to exploring South Jersey’s history and the impact of glass making in the area.

Finally, the downtown arts district on High Street was nominated for Favorite Downtown Arts District.

The arts district will also compete against New Jersey arts districts in Red Bank, New Brunswick, Newark, Princeton, and Montclair.

Voting is open to anyone with an e-mail address and a computer until the end of January.

Winners will be announced in early February.

Voters only need to release their name and e-mail address on www.jerseyarts.com/peopleschoice and is restricted to one IP address per voter.

Prizes have not been announced.
