Each week, we get half of a share of organic veggies from a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) group based in Westfield. And, each week, we’re going to show you what we got. It’s our way of showing you what New Jersey farmers are up to and what you should be able to find at your local farmers’ market this week.
In this week’s share, we got garlic scapes, the arugula, the radishes, the parsley, Boston lettuce, mustard greens and spinach.
Haven’t tried garlic scapes before? Try adding them into a stirfry or make pesto:
Garlic Scape Pesto
1/2 lb. organic scapes (chopped into 1″ sections)
1 c. organic olive oil
2 c. grated parmesan cheese
In a blender, combine the scapes and olive oil. Pour mixture into bowl and blend the cheese in by hand.
