We’ve posted before about Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson and the Friends of Hinchliffe Stadium group that is trying to get it restored: here, here and here.

NorthJersey.com reports today that grant money is coming in from the state and restoration is actually starting to look like it could be a reality some day.

The State of New Jersey gave them a $500,000 historic preservation grant which will pay for an architectural study that is needed in order to get the ball rolling on renovations. The Friends now need to raise a matching $500,000 in order to secure this grant.  This new grant money is in addition to a $1.2 million pledge from the City of Paterson that the group has already been counting on.

Brian LoPinto and the rest of the Friends of Hinchliffe Stadium are still a long way off from being able to afford everything that needs to be done.  But, you’ve gotta start somewhere, right?

Good things are on the way for one of Paterson’s aging historical landmarks!
