What’s Fresh This Week at the Farmers’ Markets?

We bought a share of organic veggies and fruit from a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) group based in Westfield.  Each week, we’re going to show you what we got.  It’s our way of showing you what New Jersey farmers are up to and what you should be able to find at your local farmers’ market this week.

This week we felt the effects of Hurricanes Irene and Lee and got a little bag.  Shelled peas, mustard greens, green lettuce, a red onion, carrots, a decorative gourd along with pears and apples were our haul.

Usually, I’ve been giving you a recipe but this week, I’m giving you an assignment.  Tell me what cool thing I can do with my decorative gourd!  I’ve just placed it on my coffee table for now.  But, what can I do with it?  Send me suggestions at alice@youdontknowjersey.com.
