Halloween Costumes Part I – Chiller Theatre – Parsippany NJ – Photo Gallery

Chiller Theatre is held twice a year currently in Parsippany New Jersey. They have a long running Annual Costume Contest at their October show. If you think you have gone through a lot of trouble on your costume, see how it stacks up against these guys. There are some really amazing costumes here.

By the way, the picture above is of one person’s costume, not two. The wolf is part of her costume. You can see the full body shot of it in the gallery below.

YDKJ Editors’ Roundtable – Halloween 2011 Candy Lineups

Let’s be honest.  The best part of Halloween?  Candy!!  If you’re like most parents I talk to, the candy you buy to give to Trick-or-Treaters is the candy you like best.  You sit there as the doorbell rings again and again, looking at the bowl slowly dwindling, praying that the kids stop soon so you can eat the few that remain.  Or you don’t even bother with that and just buy an extra bag lying to yourself, “I expect a big turnout this year.”  You know who you are.

Last year, we ran this list of our favorite candies and over this year there were a few things we realized that we’d left out.  This year, we have our lists and some additional notes on candy.

And now, your YDKJ editors:

What’s Fresh This Week at the Farmers’ Markets?

We bought a share of organic veggies and fruit from a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) group based in Westfield.  Each week, we’re going to show you what we got.  It’s our way of showing you what New Jersey farmers are up to and what you should be able to find at your local farmers’ market this week.

This week we got Mutsu apples, pears, swiss chard, butternut squash, cabbage, red romaine, celeriac, garlic, dill, white sweet potatoes and carrots.

This was the last week for fruit.  That’s sad.  But, I’ll drown my sorrows in white sweet potatoes!

Movie Review – The Thing (2011)

Going to see a re-make/sequel/prequel these days is like walking into a minefield. With so many uninspired and bad ones it is hard to figure out which ones will be good. This version of The Thing is a prequel to the 1982 Kurt Russell version. Directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton and a cast of Norwegians this movie does its predecessor proud.
