Movie Trends of 2011 # 1 : Movies That Wimped Out At The End

What do The Adjustment Bureau, Limitless and Source Code have in common? They all wimped out in their final act.

All 3 movies have great Twilight Zone like premises and they all start out strong. In the end however, they all fail in their follow through. When the credits roll for each of the 3 films, you can’t help feeling that you knew where the story should have gone but it didn’t in order to have a more crowd pleasing ending. I am not going to give anything away to anyone who hasn’t seen them, but if you have you know what I mean.

It would have been really cool if each movie had an alternate ending representing what should have happened. I’m not saying that this made any of them bad films. The Adjustment Bureau was even on by 10 best movies of the year list. But I can’t help feeling that each fell short of it’s potential as a result of the desire to have a ‘Hollywood ending’.
