Oreo cookies aren’t manufactured here but they do have a close New Jersey connection. They were first introduced to the world in Hoboken in 1912. They were originally baked in the Chelsea Market across the Hudson by the National Biscuit Company (NaBisCo).

While Oreo cookies aren’t manufactured in New Jersey, lots of other cookies from Nabisco/Kraft Foods are.

Nabisco is headquartered in East Hanover and their Fair Lawn–based plant manufactures baked goods like Chips Ahoy!, Mallomars, Animal Crackers and Ritz. They also do Research and Development in Fair Lawn. So, those great cookie smells you get when you’re driving along Route 208 may be new and exciting cookie types coming right from our own great state!
