2,000 piles will need to be driven into place before the familiar boards can start going up. But, one step at a time, Seaside Heights’ boardwalk is getting rebuilt. This morning at 8:37am, the first pile was driven into place with bagpipers and crowds of city officials and residents cheering it into place.
It must have been very loud, but still very beautiful music to residents’ ears.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by Staten Island-based SIDD Associates by May 10th.
The planned new boardwalk shouldn’t look much different to beach-goers but keep in mind that lots of feet are needed to break it in so start planning your summer shore vacation today!
