We love breakfast so we’re always looking around for some good pancakes and breakfast entrees. Found some at the Rutherford Pancake House!
Pancakes are a tricky thing. Deceptively simple to make, however a little mishap in preparation can result in a too light or too heavy flapjack. The grill has to be nice and hot. Happy to report that they have it mastered. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and cooked perfectly. Better than most diners I know and diners usually serve a pretty good pancake.
As much as we enjoyed the pancakes, the other dishes were just as good and maybe better. The corned beef hash had real flaked corned beef and potatoes. I don’t think I’ve ever had hash that wasn’t just homogenous chopped squares. It wasn’t very spicy but a little added pepper was all it needed to spice it up to my liking.
This next little masterpiece is the Rodeo Skillet. Eggs done any way you like on top of chorizo, jalapenos, onions, peppers and roasted potatoes. The spice that I didn’t find in the hash was all in here. Chorizo AND jalapenos, wow! I think I ended up picking about half the jalapenos out but if you like spicy this is the menu item for you. It was delicious.
Finally, the breakfast burrito was up with black beans, chorizo (it was a spicy sausage kind of morning for us!) and sharp cheddar cheese. It came with a side of home fries which were crispy and delicious. The burrito was perfectly spicy and hearty, too. We didn’t have any mediocre dishes at the Rutherford Pancake House. Just writing this up is making me want some more breakfast!
The coffee was beautiful in the morning sunlight in our corner booth by the window.
