What better way to spend a Saturday or even a weekday off work doing your holiday shopping and having a nice meal? We visited Ramsey and found all kinds of locally-owned shops with something for everyone on your list.
Just remember to shop in Ramsey on Monday through Saturday since this is in Bergen County and all the shops will be closed on Sunday.
We’ve been doing all our holiday shopping at locally-owned businesses for three years now and have never enjoyed shopping like we have since we started this quest. We guarantee that you’ll enjoy buying gifts again if you head out to some of the areas we’ve covered before and towns we’re visiting this year, too.
What’s not to love about a store with a cheese board in the shape of New Jersey? We found Olive 54 right at the top of the business district on Main Street in Ramsey. This beautiful community is right up near the top of New Jersey and Main Street is teeming with great shops and lots of restaurants. The entire downtown is small enough to be easily walkable and yet has plenty of places to shop and eat.
Olive 54 gave us a glimpse at what Ramsey had to offer and it impressed us right away.
We bought this New Jersey crewel pillow for ourselves but you could just as easily make it a gift for anyone else who lives in or loves our Garden State.
We also loved these monogram ornaments which we found out people are hanging on wreaths with one for each family member. Got a whole family that’s hard to buy for? What better way to make them all happy with a beautiful decoration for their home?
Olive 54 was just filled to the brim with items for anyone on your gift list!
Keep in mind, that’s just the first store we went to. There are lots and lots of stores up and down Main Street with all kinds of gift ideas.
Peters Flowers and Gifts had lots of nice little gifts for teachers or other people in your life who could use a little something. They even had little holiday-themed planters that could be good for the person on your list with a green thumb.
I’m a big believer in shopping at hardwares for gifts. Ramsey Hardware and Paint proved me right again and again. Lots of people think of a hardware for tools and home improvement items but there are lots of gifting treasures to be found, too. They had toy kits for kids to build and look at that Jets garbage can out in front! Who’s got a Jets fan in the family who thinks they have EVERYTHING Jets? Bet they don’t have that!
I bought my first gift of the season at the next shop we stopped in: Ramsey Galleria.
Everywhere we looked in the Galleria we saw something for someone in our family. These crystal lamps could go in almost anyone’s home.
Ramsey Galleria has several display cabinets of some of the most beautiful trinket boxes. We also really loved their furniture pieces. Maybe you know someone who’s just moved and could use a show piece in their new home? They also do design work and had really nice draperies on display at the back of the store.
Shopping for someone with a bolder design palate? Artistic Interiors across the street might be the place.
If you have a large house and aren’t sure how to decorate it appropriately we’re pretty sure you can find the large pieces you need here.
In fact, what couldn’t you find in Ramsey? We found lots of gift-worthy items and we had a lot of fun looking for them.
Plus, we’re supporting local families who own those businesses. Get out there this holiday season and Shop Local, NJ!
