The New York Jets’ (5-7) season is hanging by a thread as they host the Oakland Raiders (4-8) at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Metlife Stadium. Geno Smith will be starting once again but a hook will be waiting off-stage to yank him out if he’s struggling. Matt Simms is still the backup but at this point they might as well have him start since they have nothing to lose and they should be looking at rebuilding right now anyway. I guess they feel that they have too much invested in Geno Smith too give up on him quite yet but right now he keeps going backwards. You aren’t seeing the progress you want to see and he is a turnover machine! The supporting cast is weak as well so they need to make some changes soon. The big problem for the Jets is that they came up on the short end of the stick with the tie breakers so if they end the season with the same record as many of the teams they are competing with for a playoff spot, they will automatically lose.

The New York Giants (5-7) face the San Diego Chargers (5-7) Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in an away game. This is a story of 2 #1 quarterbacks, switched at Draft day ten years ago. In a controversial move, Eli Manning didn’t want to go to San Diego Chargers so basically the Giants and Chargers flip flopped quarterbacks! The Giants will continue their effort to claw their way back into contention.

It’s a battle of 7-5 teams with the Philadelphia Eagles up against the Detroit Lions at home Sunday at 1:00 p.m. They need to continue with their winning pace to keep the pressure on Dallas, who are playing the Chicago Bears on Monday. The Eagles are in the best position of any of the the local teams and hopefully quarterback Nick Foles can remain solid and consistent and take them into the playoffs.
