There are thousands of bands heading toward Austin, TX right now. Some are touring their way there and some are just driving right out but they’re all going to perform at SXSW from March 15th through the 20th. Someday when we have unlimited blog coin, we’ll go and try to see all the New Jersey bands showcasing their talents at the U.S.’s largest music event but for now we can cull the SXSW website for all the New Jersey artists.  It’s amazing to see the amount of talent that will be representing our fair state every year.

There are bands at Official Showcases and bands who are at the more numerous unofficial showcases. Here are the ones who are officially listed on SXSW.com:

Pure Bathing Culture. Versprille and Hindman befriended one another on the first day of freshman orientation at William Paterson University in Wayne. Visit their Facebook page here.

Night Birds. From Eatontown, their latest record is called an “ADD-addled, surf-influenced, punk-rock adventure through Gorsegner & Co.’s experiences dealing with the rampant assholery they encounter in their day-to-day lives in suburban New Jersey and the surrounding areas.” Check them out here.

The Karma Killers. Princeton-based foursome who formed a band that’s “fueled by the raw passion of punk rock, edgy experimentalism of post-punk, and melodic moodiness of new wave.” Find them on Facebook.

Rotimi. Born and raised in New Jersey, he won Apollo Theater’s “Amateur Night” twice at the mere age of 15. Check him out here.

Toothgrinder. This hardcore band from Asbury Park has been making waves in NJ for a while now. Like them on Facebook.

R3LL. His “unique, experimental take on Jersey Club” music out of Newark sounds pretty great. Check him out here.

Low Cut Connie. We saw NJ’s Adam Weiner play at The Saint a while back and Low Cut Connie’s got his energy times three. Here’s their Facebook page.

The Everymen. This band is a sight to behold.  They’ve perfectly described themselves as “The E Street Band in stature, Rocket From The Crypt in searing energy, Meat Loaf in production and The Replacements in boozy, backroom party vibes.” Check them out here.

OKAY KAYA. Kaya Wilkins was born in New Jersey but grew up in Norway. You can feel both influences in her music. Check her out here.

Buji. Buji is a producer from Ho Ho Kus and he’s DJ’d all over the state and in NYC. Here’s his SoundCloud page.

Prawn. We caught this Ridgewood band at The Champagne Jam in 2014 and they were great. Check them out here.

Tor Miller. Tor was raised in New Jersey but hails from Brooklyn now. Check out his Facebook page.

Mike Zombie. Coming from Willingboro, Mike Zombie is a Grammy-nominated platinum producer known for producing Started from the Bottom and DJ Khaled’s They don’t love Me Nomore. Zombie shows his versatility and his lyrical ability to paint vivid pictures with his lyrics. Find his SoundCloud page here.

There are so many unofficial showcases that it’s hard to find them all.  Luckily, we know about one that’s absolutely stacked with New Jersey talent! Asbury Park’s Little Dickman Records and Brooklyn’s Sugarmama BK are hosting the Rock or Die III Day Party. TV Tramps, Darkwing and Dentist are just some of the bands we know and love on this Day Party bill.

Our friends, Hodera, are also playing a Ground Floor Booking showcase on March 16th.
