It’s Time to Go: Previewing The Court Tavern’s Final Three Shows

In case you missed it, the greater New Jersey music scene was served a bombshell during the low-key week between Christmas and New Year’s: Brittney Dixon – beloved manager of New Brunswick’s Court Tavern – would be leaving her post effective January 14th and the 35 year old venue will once again be thrown into limbo with owner Michael Barrod saying that future plans were undetermined. The only hint given is the likelihood that The Court could become a private, for-rent event space.

This past Wednesday January 11th saw one of the largest gatherings of the scene that has developed around Dixon’s efforts and the proper shows running from Thursday 1/12 until Saturday 1/14 should be no different as fans and musicians statewide will surely be out to say final goodbyes to the venue that meant so much to so many. So while it’s sad to see The Court close down again, it’s not over quite yet. And judging by these lineups, they’ve clearly saved some of the region’s best bands for last. Keep checking back in with You Don’t Know Jersey as we will be running a short series of Court Tavern appreciation pieces over the course of the next few weeks.
