Tour Diaries – Rock N Roll HiFives On the Road, Part I

We recently had pizza at Kinchley’s Tavern with the Rock N Roll HiFives where they told us all about their up-coming Spring Break tour. Suddenly, it dawned on us….  maybe they would write a tour diary for You Don’t Know Jersey! It’s almost as exciting as being able to go on tour with them. Here’s the first installment, written by bassist Gloree.

Hey hey! We started the tour off right by launching a Facebook live video from inside the RV as we headed out.

We were all pumped up, Rockin and planning our night when 20 minutes away from home mom says ‘Joe, did you by chance check all of the appliances?’  Mom threw a slice of pizza in the oven during our last hour of panic packing and wasn’t 100% sure if she turned the oven off.  We did a good job this time (it is our 4th tour with the RV), but that last hour is always nuts.

Since we were going to be gone for 10 days, we figured better safe than sorry and turned the rig around, heading home. The last place we all wanted to go right now!!!

Well, the oven was off and with a ‘it’s groundhog day’ we took off on our spring tour 2017 again!!!

First stop, Shartlesville, PA. Home of Roadside America (more to come on that later).

Our first tour vote, eat in or go out. Eating in the RV tonight would mean frozen pizza, Mac and cheese or soup, which didn’t sound all that great to anyone. But going out didn’t sound too good either because we were wiped from the previous 24 hours of preparations!!!

We got to the RV park, Appalachian RV resort, and upon checkin we noticed they had a cafe. Score!  Joe went in to check the menu and closing time (it was now 8pm) and came back with the best news!  The cafe closed at 9pm and they were hosting a bingo night!  We were in!

We parked Irv and Joe hooked everything up in the cold, rainy night. We usually like to hook up in the daylight so that we could get a feel of the RV park, but we lost time to the oven incident. We headed over to Johnny Appleseed hall to check out the action. It was crazy hat bingo night. In fact, it was bingo weekend. This is no joke. People love bingo!  The hall was packed, and the bingo machine was rad!!!

We ordered our food and decided to take it back to the RV because the room was quite with all the intense bingo campers concentrating on their boards.

We got burgers and fries (mom got a soup) and headed home. The food was awesome. We were really happy with our choice.

After dinner, Ziggy got his nightly walk. The sounds of the wind on the empty trees and unfamiliar shadows made poor Zig so skiddish so he did his doggie business quick.

We scrolled through the cable channels that the RV park offered and found lots of religious content, a baseball game and news. We opted for baseball then got ready for bed so that we could rest up for our journey to Richmond, VA the next day. Unfortunately Eilee didn’t get to sleep all that well because Ziggy chooses to share her bed and he thinks he’s a lap dog when he’s human sized!  He pushed up against Eilee so much so that she had sleep with her legs propped up.  Day 1 in the books.
