We’ve been hearing from more and more friends and readers that they’d like to know where we’re going each week so they can join us. We get invited to events, hear about fun exhibits and are interested in lots of different places all the time. Here’s what is on our radar this week. We can’t guarantee that we’ll go to all these places but there’s a good chance we’ll be at some of them. Support local arts or get outside and do something with us!

Vinyl-digging returns to Jersey City as the JCRR convenes on the Grove Street PATH Plaza in its June edition. Over 30 tables of records, CDs, 45s and music memorabilia. Live DJs, tons of fun for everyone, free admission and way too many records! Come on down to the plaza and meet other vinyl-minded folk. Sponsored by Fourth Street Arts of Jersey City & Iris Records.

Laurel Springs’ Walt Whitman Arts and Poetry Festival, celebrating the birthday of Walt Whitman on the banks of his beloved Timber Creek. THERE IS NO ENTRANCE FEE FOR THE FESTIVAL. Come “Walk where Whitman walked” and enjoy Laurel Springs as Whitman enjoyed it. Trolley Stops: • Whitman Stafford Farmhouse – Visual Arts; • Crystal Springs – Literary Arts; • Recreation Center – Indie Film Artistry of Mad Shelley Films; • Downtown Train Station will be open for visitation and information, with nearby parking and lunch spots.

World Jeep will be hosting a fundraiser and Jeep Show on June 3 2017, to raise money to benefit K-9 Valor Task Force. This event will be held at Keansburg Amusement Park. Bill Morgan of World Jeep is a trustee of this non profit 501c3 organization. Our mission at K-9 Valor is to provide the following services: Bulletproof vests and other needed equipment for Police K-9 Units; Pet oxygen masks, for Fire Departments and other First Responders; Pet CPR training for pet owners and First Responders; Search and Rescue training for Valor and other needed equipment; Assistance to people displaced by fire and other disasters. We will be offering amusement ride specials, specialty food trucks, Police K-9 demos, drink specials, and more.

Join us for our Hard Cider Festival on Saturday June 3rd from 1:00 – 7:00 at the Cider Mill in the historic village of Oldwick. Ticket price includes two glasses of our own hard cider or wine. Come and enjoy our live music, talks about making hard cider, stroll through the orchards, see our antique tractors and for the kids take a hay wagon ride or try our scavenger hunt. Our own BBQ sandwiches, hotdogs and other snacks will be available for purchase. We had so much fun last year we thought we would do it again! This event is rain or shine. Tickets can be purchased online for $12. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $16. Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 year of age with ID required for entry. Children are free and do not need tickets.

The festival features 150 artisans, crafters, and organizations, and a diverse Food Court. Fun for all ages in the “Family Zone.” PARADE ROUTE Kicks off at 12 noon from Town Hall.
