With so many uninspired and poorly made remakes, sequels, prequels, reboots and revisions going around the last few years, movie audiences have become rightfully skeptical and hesitant to give them a try.

Movie Review – Star Wars : Episode I – The Phantom Menace In 3D
Star Wars : Episode I – The Phantom Menace opens today newly remastered in 3D. The original 3 Star Wars movies came out in 1977, 1980 & 1983. Since George Lucas had said in multiple interviews that he had 9 parts already written, everyone expected the next film to come out in 1986 following the 3 year schedule that had been established. By the time 1989 rolled around people realized that they may never see another Star Wars movie again.

What do The Adjustment Bureau, Limitless and Source Code have in common? They all wimped out in their final act.

Haywire stars Gina Carano as a kick ass action hero in an espionage thriller. Think of it as Bourne Ultimatum with a female lead. The movie co-stars Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton and Michael Fassbender in supporting roles.

Movie Review – The Devil Inside
The Devil Inside is another movie about Exorcisms, and like The Last Exorcism it is filmed in the Blair Witch style. The story and acting is fairly effective. If anything, by the end it feels as though the movie should have done more.
Share on FacebookMovie Review – Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
This movie has great acting, amazing cinematography and meticulous set design. The problem is that it is an incomprehensible mess.
Share on FacebookMovie Review – Sherlock Holmes : A Game of Shadows
This is the second Sherlock Holmes movie starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role and Jude Law as Watson. Both movies are Directed by Guy Ritchie. This film is slightly better than the first but that isn’t saying a whole lot. Both movies have the same strengths and weaknesses and the weaknesses are a serious issue. Sherlock Holmes simply isn’t done correctly. Robert Downey Jr. portrays the character well with a slight bit of overacting for humor’s sake. The flamboyant, witty, attentive and obsessive sensibilities that he brings to the role are a good thing. The problem is that the brilliant and analytical way that he should be solving mysteries is given short shrift and there is an attempt to fill that in with some well staged but lifeless action sequences.
