What’s Fresh This Week at the Farmers’ Markets?
We bought a share of organic veggies and fruit from a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) group based in Westfield. Each week, we’re going to show you what we got. It’s our way of showing you what New Jersey farmers are up to and what you should be able to find at your local farmers’ market this week.
This week we got kale, tatsoi, bok choy, parnsips, acorn squash and sweet potatoes.

This week we got kale, sweet peppers, purple cauliflower, turnips, decorative gourds, hot peppers, delicata squash, potatoes and cilantro.
I’m made a winter vegetable gratin with the cauliflower, turnips, carrots and kale for a potluck dinner this weekend. See what I did after the break:

This week we got Mutsu apples, pears, swiss chard, butternut squash, cabbage, red romaine, celeriac, garlic, dill, white sweet potatoes and carrots.
This was the last week for fruit. That’s sad. But, I’ll drown my sorrows in white sweet potatoes!

Here’s what she got this week: red romaine lettuce, dinosaur kale, mustard greens, dill, bok choi, carrots, onions, acorn squash and giant sweet potatoes. Yay, the winter vegetables have started!!

This week we got a ton of food, wow! We got apples, pears, arugula, green leaf lettuce, an onion, potatoes, peppers, broccoli, a daikon radish with the greens, turnips, Swiss chard and edamame.
I like salted edamame as a snack but sometimes it’s fun to do something different.

This week we felt the effects of Hurricanes Irene and Lee and got a little bag. Shelled peas, mustard greens, green lettuce, a red onion, carrots, a decorative gourd along with pears and apples were our haul.
