In what I consider to be an interesting move, the NJ Senate passed the bill S1730 requiring all future public state employees to be state residents reports NorthJersey.com. I say the more the merrier! Forcing public employees to be residents helps foot our tax bill for their insane benefits by making them essentially help pay for it. The bill only effects new employees and grandfathers in current staff. The original draft apparently met with huge union opposition as it would have forced employees to relocate within four month instate (which really isn’t fair if you think about it).
Readers, how do you feel about this change of policy for our public servants? I love it.
