Newark Police Under Scrutiny
The American Civil Liberties Union wants a federal investigation of the Newark Police Department for use of excessive force and false arrests. The city does not need this bad publicity. Newark has been going through a renaissance in the last few years. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Riverfront Stadium, and the Prudential Center are all welcome additions. Cory Booker has the city headed in the right direction. It cannot be easy being a police officer in Newark. It is a tough city. My wife worked there for many years and although the city was improving, there were still many tough areas. Anyone who has seen A & E’s Jacked can see the job isn’t easy. However if the accusations are true, the bad cops have to be removed. Either way it is not good news for Brick City.
