NY Giants vs. Detroit Lions
Another quarterback plays against the Giants and another quarterback is injured. This time it was Shaun Hill who left the game after breaking his left arm. Every time the Giants injure an opposing quarterback it results in a victory. The game against the Lions was not a blowout, but once again the Giants found a way to win in a 28-20 victory.
Eli Manning threw two touchdowns, a 33 yarder to Mario Manningham and a 1 yarder to Travis Beckum. Running back Brandon Jacobs ran two touchdowns in himself but did not have as many yards as Ahmad Bradshaw, who lit up the Detroit defense for 133 yards and no touchdowns. Call them “Smash and Dash” or “Earth and Wind,” either way running backs Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw are working well together and this was the same formula the Giants used to win a Superbowl in 2007. Great defense and a powerful running game will keep the wins coming. I do not want to jinx anything, but right now the Giants are looking like the team to beat in the NFC.
I apologize for not having better Giants commentary, but I was a victim of Cablevision and NewsCorp’s greed this past weekend and was punished by losing Fox5 and My9, meaning no game for me to watch, Yes, me, the consumer was the one who suffered from corporate greed, but either way I am still able to type this and watch replays thanks to this new invention called the internet. Hopefully my cable company will find a solution by week 7 or I will have to abandon the family and hop over to one of the editors’ houses for some chili and football.
NY Jets vs. Denver Broncos
They called him washed up. He was once ranked the number #1 running back in the league two years in a row. He was no longer the feature back for a team whose fans worshiped him. He was a “has been” and doomed by the injury bug. His career was over with. His name, LaDainian Tomlinson, and he has brought a fifth straight victory to his new team, the Jets. Once again the Denver Broncos were stunned by #21, but not in a San Diego Chargers jersey this time, this time is was for a team that plays in the far east, a team that was supposed to have jet lag and breathing problems while visiting Mile High Stadium.
Thanks to LT2 and a late flag against the Broncos, the NY Jets won their fifth straight game on Sunday, this time on the road in Denver to a 24-20 victory. Mark Sanchez threw his first interception of the season, but that did not matter as he found Braylon Edwards again for a 32 yarder. Edwards is starting to look like Sanchez’s favorite target as he has found a solution to his butter fingers. LT2 found the end zone twice and once again Nick Folk was kicking field goals from 56 yards away. Not that it’s hard to kick field goals in Denver as the ball travels an average of 10 yards further then any other stadium, but you got to give it to Folk, he has been money all season for the Jets and is nailing down field goals from about anywhere.
The Jets have a bye week this coming weekend and Rex Ryan was heard on 1050 ESPN as saying “This is the worst time to have off while your team is on a winning streak”. I agree, but everyone does need a rest, especially Darrell Revis who will not take time off but instead stay at the Jets facility and rehab his hamstring.
