MORRISTOWN – Join the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in New Jersey as First Night Morris County celebrates its 19th anniversary ringing in the New Year throughout downtown Morristown this New Year’s Eve. The celebration, which typically attracts thousands of people from throughout the area, provides one night of unlimited entertainment and two dazzling fireworks shows for one low price. With artistic programming provided by the Arts Council of the Morris Area, First Night Morris County features nearly 80 performances ranging from jazz, world music and rock to theatre, dance and comedy. The celebration begins at 7 p.m. on December 31, and ends with fireworks at midnight. Fireworks also are scheduled at 9:15 p.m.
Performances will take place in 21 venues within walking distance of the Morristown Green, including The Community Theatre, Morristown High School, Hyatt Morristown, the County Administration & Records Building, the Masonic Lodge, and numerous places of worship.
First Night Morris County 2011 offers several features certain to make this New Year’s Eve a special one:
- First Night Performances, Exhibits and Activities: Everything from rock, jazz, pop, blues, bluegrass, folk and world music (from Africa, the Andes, the Balkans, China, Japan, and Ireland), to classical choral and instrumental music, a poetry slam, comedy, theatre, dance, visual arts, magic, juggling, storytelling and more. First Night Morris County features performances geared toward every age and interest.
- First Night Fireworks: There will be two fireworks displays, one at 9:15pm and one at midnight, both
- visible from around the Morristown Green and throughout Morristown.
- First Chance: A $20 ticket or a book of five (5) tickets for $100 is your chance to win more than $20,000 or one of three other cash prizes. Proceeds support First Night Morris County. Lottery will be drawn on Jan. 1, 2011. Winners need not be present to win.
- First Night Overnight: First Night has joined with Hyatt Morristown to offer participants a choice of special rates and packages.

First Night® Morris County typically features more than 300 artists in over 75 performances, ranging from dance and comedy to music and children’s performers. ADMISSION
Start by purchasing your First Night® admission from our exclusive ticketing outlet, the Community Theatre at Mayo Center for Performing Arts in Morristown. You can purchase at the box office or online from December 1-31.
Bring your admission ticket to the first event you attend on New Year’s Eve and exchange it for your First Night® button (you may also exchange tickets for buttons at the Community Theatre prior to the event). You are permitted unlimited entry into all of the venues and entertainment events of First Night® by displaying your button. Your button also allows transport aboard our complimentary shuttle and free parking at select locations.
On December 31, admissions are available at our Command Center in The Hyatt Conference Center, Morristown (adjacent to hotel lobby) or at the Community Theatre in Morristown.
