Old Canal Inn, Nutley – Review

If you’re a fan of New Jersey, you’ve probably read some issues of Weird New Jersey.  You may remember this bar as the Death Stool Bar.  Legend has it that several bar regulars who used that stool all died while sitting there.  Well, now the bar is back in business but this time around they aren’t taking chances.  You can look at the Death Stool, but you can’t sit on it.

The Old Canal Inn was closed for a few years but now three brothers from Nutley have refreshed and revived the old lady for another historical run.  What a great place for food and drinks on a hot summer day!

We tried a couple of bar pies and they were piping hot and very tasty.  Perfect as appetizers or snacks a you enjoy a few of the many beers they have on tap.

We also tried a burger which was really flavorful and juicy. The cole slaw on the side was particularly good.

And, a cheesesteak which was a little different than your normal Philly creation.  It was on a chiabatta roll and was seasoned pretty heavily.  A nice twist.

See all our pictures from our evening at the Old Canal Inn in Nutley below.  And, be sure to stop by for a few drinks and maybe play a game of shuffleboard or two.

We hope this time around, the Old Canal Inn has a good long run!
