Surf Taco, Red Bank – Review

We took a mini-vacation one weekend and took the train down to Red Bank.  It was kind of expensive (two roundtrip tickets, $60) but we had so much fun that it was worth the price.  For lunch, we stopped in at Surf Taco.  We’d heard a lot about how good it was but we don’t live by one so we took this opportunity to try it out.  Everyone was right…  it was good!

We tried the steak tacos with beans and rice on the side.  The beef was flavorful and tender and the toppings were very fresh.

We also had a combo that came with a Maverick burrito which was stuffed with chicken along with rice, beans and fresh veggies and a Surf Taco which is their signature battered-Cod taco.  The fish taco was amazing. Fresh fish dipped in crispy but light batter and crisp toppings were refreshing and satisfying.

The star of the show for us, though, was the salsa bar.  I’m a BIG fan of salsa verde and their version was simply incredible. A little bit spicy and a lot of green tomato tang, this salsa was nearly drinkable it was so good.  My actual quote was, “if it was socially acceptable, I’d dunk my head in that salsa verde bowl.”  And, the good news is, all the other salsas were also good!

So,  if you’re down the shore and feel like some tacos, go find yourself a Surf Taco.  There are nine of them in Belmar, Jackson, Lacey, Long Branch, Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach, Red Bank, Silverton and Seaside Park.  You won’t be sorry.
