This past weekend the undead descended upon Asbury Park once again for the 4th Annual NJ Zombie Walk. Last year the Walk made the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest gathering of zombies with over 4,000 walking dead participants. Guinness wasn’t on hand for this one but thousands came anyway.  This year’s events included the Convention Hall with vendors, performers and photographers.

Unique zombie collectables, T shirts, horror inspired accessories and of course DVDs of your favorite zombie movies were available for purchase. The cast of The Night of the Living Dead participated in a Q&A session on stage. Some of the cast of the hugely popular TV series The Walking Dead were also on hand signing autographs. A group of young girls from Toms River’s Broadway Bound Dance Centre did a ghoulish dance performance on the main stage in the Convention Hall. Broadway Bound also trained a group of zombie enthusiasts over the past month to learn the “Thriller” dance and they performed it several times throughout the weekend in various locations around town.

Several local restaurants and bars got into the spirit and hosted events catered to zombies. Asbury Lanes hosted the Dead Man’s Dance Party Saturday night with a performance by the Rigor Mortis Revue, a zombie burlesque troop from Philadelphia. Langosta Lounge, located on the boardwalk, offered a zombie brunch on Sunday. It was a full weekend of zombie fun that keeps getting bigger every year! I look forward to next year when the dead will walk the boardwalk again!
