This past Saturday the 28th annual Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day parade took place in Seaside Heights. Thousands of revelers came out to celebrate the holiday and watch what is dubbed one of the greenest parades in New Jersey. Bagpipers, drummers, dancers and bands all marched down the Boulevard amid festive floats. This year’s parade was dedicated to “Honor and Remember” recognizing the sacrifice of all our fallen military. After the parade, flags were presented to Gold Star families who have lost loved ones in service to our country.
The celebration didn’t end when the parade was finished. The crowds dressed all in green partied well into the night at all the local bars, pubs and restaurants along the boulevard and the boardwalk. Several bands took the stage at The Beachcomber to entertain everyone. DJs supplied music at many other clubs and bars to keep everyone dancing all day and night.
Everyone got into the holiday spirit whether they were Irish or not. There were some creative costumes and T shirts as well. If you were lucky, you may have even spotted a leprechaun or 2!
