We came across La Escondida II on our way to a movie one night. We’re glad we did! This restaurant has all the usual tex-mex options that we’re used to plus some more traditional dishes for the more adventurous eaters. They even have breakfast!
The Chicken Enchiladas Verdes were amazing. I usually measure a new tex-mex restaurant by their green sauce and La Escondida II makes a really great one! Topped with a nice salad, avocado and nice bits of cojito cheese, this is a great meal.
Even though you don’t get the really good green sauce with the free nachos at the beginning of the meal, you won’t be disappointed. The two fresh sauces that came with the chips were just as good.
The other two meals we tried were some combination platters. Honestly, there were so many good things on the menu that we ended up with the combination plates because it was easier than deciding which ONE item to get.
Our first combination was a chicken, cheese and beans burrito, cheese and chicken quesadilla and a chimichanga with cheese and chicken inside. All the fillings were nice and fresh and each tortilla was handmade and SO fresh.
Our other combination plate had a chicken and onion taco, a chicken burrito and sope with chicken, refried beans, avocado and salad. Again, each tortilla was delicious and fresh and all the chicken was tender and moist. The other choices for the combination platters were an enchilada in mole sauce, chicken flauta and a tamal. We’re sure that they’re all good.
We didn’t branch out into the more traditional dishes that they offer here but we’re anxious to come back and try them out. We LOVE tortas so we can’t wait to try them here. They also make menudo and pork or lamb barbacoa on Saturday and Sunday which we’d love to get back and sample.
La Escondida II is a great restaurant with tons of seating, really friendly waitstaff and fantastic food. You’ve got to check it out the next time you’re in Pleasantville!
