New Brunswick, NJ (August 23, 2012)—State Theatre presents comedian and 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan in his State Theatre debut on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 8pm. Tickets range from $22-65.
New York City native and current New Jersey resident Tracy Morgan has made his mark in entertainment since the start of his career in stand-up comedy and television. Morgan starred in NBC’s Saturday Night Live for seven seasons from 1996 to 2003, creating memorable roles such as “Astronaut Jones” and “Brian Fellows.” He currently appears opposite Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin as the unpredictable “Tracy Jordan” in NBC’s Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winning 30 Rock. In 2009, Morgan received his first Emmy® nomination for “Supporting Actor” for his role as Jordan. The 30 Rock cast has also won the Screen Actors Guild Award® for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series,” and is now entering its seventh season.
Morgan launched his career as “Hustleman” on the hit comedy series Martin before headlining across the country with stand-up comedy. He has also starred in his own comedy series The Tracy Morgan Show, and was heard as the voice of several animated characters such as “Luiz” the bulldog in last year’s Rio, secret agent guinea pig “Blaster” in G-Force, and“Spoonie Luv” on Comedy Central’s Crank Yankers.
In 2009, Morgan released his first book, I Am the New Black. The book compiles anecdotes and pivotal moments in Morgan’s life that influenced and shaped him and his career. He has also headlined “New York Comedy Festival” with fellow comedians Bill Maher, Andy Samberg, and Patton Oswalt, to name a few. Morgan also performed in his own HBO special, “Black & Blue,” starred in several commercials, and hosted various award shows.
Morgan’s film credits include Superhero Movie, First Sunday opposite Ice Cube and Katt Williams, The Longest Yardopposite Adam Sandler, the Wayans brothers’ Little Man, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Head of State. Morgan also tackled drama in The Son of No One with Al Pacino and Channing Tatum. More recently, Morgan has starred in Cop Outand the remake of Death at a Funeral.
