NBC Universal channels (NBC, USA Network, SyFy, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, E!, Style Network, G4 and more) will host a one-hour concert tonight at 8:00pm benefitting the American Red Cross relief efforts called the Hurricane Sandy Coming Together Benefit. New Jersey’s hometown boys, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, will be there along with Long Island native, Billy Joel. Also appearing are Sting, Christina Aguilera and Aerosmith.
You can donate to the Red Cross during the benefit, or you can also donate at www.redcross.org, 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
Looking for something a little more concrete than a cash donation? Governor Christie and his administration have created an Emergency Volunteer Response Hotline. If you are interested in volunteering with a variety of Hurricane Sandy clean-up activities in New Jersey, call 1-800-JERSEY-7.
The Humane Society of the United States’ Animal Rescue Team is assembling staff and equipment to help rescue pets in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast and the American Humane Association is helping animals that may need rescue or shelter.
The Community Foodbank of New Jersey coordinates efforts with the state’s Office of Emergency Management, as well as with state and local nonprofit organizations. Call them at (908) 355- FOOD (3663), ext. 243.
