The New Jersey Zombie Walk is held in Asbury Park and we’ve been there for most of them. If you’ve ever been to one, you can tell how much they love Asbury Park. Since so much of the shore was devastated by Hurricane Sandy, the zombies are lending a severed hand by helping the community that has supported the New Jersey Zombie Walk for the past five years. Jason Meehan and the Zombie Walk staff decided that they should collect food and supplies since they are in the highest demand. For those without a home or a job as a result of this disaster, the winter is going to be cold and long – and the Monmouth Food Bank is going to need to be stocked more than ever before to care for people.
Merchandise left over from past Zombie Walks was housed in Asbury Park and it was damaged in the storm. Volunteers gathered recently to launder and clean the items and now the zombies are putting it all on sale in order to raise funds to buy food for the Food Bank.
100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go towards the purchase of food, diapers, blankets and supplies that will be donated to the Monmouth Food Bank and distributed to shelters and kitchens throughout the Asbury Park area in partnership with Move for Hunger. These organizations need to get their shelves restocked fast since winter is coming on strong now and people will need lots more supplies.
