The NHL Draft was held at the Prudential Center this year at 3:00 p.m. on June 30th. Preparing for the day that Martin Brodeur retires, the New Jersey Devils traded for Goalie Cory Schnieder by giving the Vancouver Canucks the 9th pick in the draft. Speaking of Brodeur, his son Anthony was drafted by the Devils in the seventh round and will play on the Major Junior Ice Hockey Team, the Gatineau Olympiques.
Before the draft, New Jersey : Stronger Than The Storm held a Fan Fest from 10:30-2:30 Sports fans of all teams were welcome to enjoy music, games, food & more.
The family friendly event had a beach theme with sand and a mini boardwalk. There were boardwalk type games and food.
Devils dancers were on hand to give away stickers and other team merchandise.
Live music was provided by the original Bruce Springsteen tribute band, The BStreetBand.
