Corned beef hash that’s made in house. A delicious flaky biscuit with most dishes. Grilled crumb cake.
Have we gotten your attention yet?
The Buttered Biscuit in Bradley Beach has made quite a splash ever since opening a few years ago. They’re busy on the weekends for that reason so we tried it on a Monday. If you’re down the shore over the week, you should definitely try it during the week. It’ll be just as good and you’ll get a table (almost!) right away.
Above is that in-house corned beef hash topped with two perfectly poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce, grilled asparagus and that flaky biscuit. Ready to head to Bradley Beach now? Big chunks of flaked corned beef and large diced potatoes made the hash a part of the show instead of just a base for other flavors. The biscuit broke up into chunks that dipped perfectly into the soft egg yolks. A beautiful and delicious dish all around.
Remember that grilled crumb cake we mentioned before? Yes, it’s as good as it looks. Fairly light cake with a normal amount of crumbs unlike some bakeries that pile it on so you can’t even see the cake lightly grilled and then sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. If there’s a better breakfast pastry, I’d be hard-pressed to think of it.
OK, maybe there’s something that comes close to the decadence of grilled crumb cake. Banana Bread French Toast topped with Macadamia nuts and coconut. Thick slabs of dense banana bread with walnuts, coated and fried. Crazy good. I might try this at home it was so good.
Even the side dish of home fries was made special with large chunks of cream red potatoes and grilled onions and peppers. I usually pass on the home fries but when this came to the table I couldn’t help but get my fork in there.
You simply must go to The Buttered Biscuit on your week at the shore!
