Coney Island Pizza, Riverdale – Review

It’s National Pizza Month and we’re starting out in Riverdale at the Coney Island Pizzeria.

We tried two pies and a few others items and everything was really fresh and delicious. The Margherita pie above is made with fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, Pecorino Romano, fresh sweet basil, olive oil and sea salt.

The Brooklyn Bridge pie was a special and it had the cheese and sauce reversed.  This made the great sauce really shine.

One of the non-pizza items that they cook in the wood-fired oven is this giant soft pretzel.  Big enough for two or three people to share, this was a great appetizer!

The pulled pork sliders were really saucy and delicious.  The pork came in big shreds that you could really sink your teeth into and the sauce was sweet without being overpoweringly so.

The Messy Meatball Parm Flatbread was just as advertised.  Extra saucy with giant meatballs and cheese, this was a hearty sandwich that could have fed two people.  And, both diners would have enjoyed their meal if they chose this from the menu.

We had a great meal and the service was friendly and attentive at Coney Island Pizza.  So, if you’re in the Riverdale area and want to celebrate National Pizza Month in style, check them out!
