There were pumpkins as far as your eyes could see Friday night at the annual Gardens Aglow event at the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens in Upper Montclair. On this crisp, cool evening, hundreds of jack-o-lanterns were lined along the iris beds in a brillant display by students of local schools and regional artists. It was quite an impressive sight. Each sectional along the fence had a grouping of pumpkins labeled by schools such as Arts High School, Bloomfield High School and Belleville High School. There were the straight forward jack-o-lanterns of course but there were also clowns, cats and mummies. Some pumpkins were intricate carvings on the surface instead of the normal hollowed out variety.

In addition to the display of pumpkins  there were many other activities for kids and parents to partake in. Face painting was made available as well as refreshments such as popcorn, corn dogs and cider. A huge movie screen was showing classic episodes of Scooby Doo.

Here’s our little Vine of some of the displays.

This was a really fun event and we plan on making it a yearly excursion. Our shots are below.
