The New York Jets (6-7) actually came out and played a decent game for a change beating the Oakland Raiders 37-27. Just when you think they are done for the year and you give them their last rites, they surprise you and jump back in it. Their still hanging by a thread on life support. And with their lack of tie breakers they probably need to win out and have some other teams lose to make the playoffs.
The Philadelphia Eagles (8-5) had the worst weather out of anybody basically playing in blizzard like conditions. It was pretty clear in other cities where you would expect snow like Green Bay but in Phialdelphia it was coming down like Buffalo NY with a couple of inches on the ground. It didn’t make for the funnest game for people watching or playing. In the end, it worked to the Eagles advantage even though they are a team build on speed and quick plays. This is because the Detroit Lions (7-6) had an even bigger problem since even though they play in a cold weather city they have a dome so the conditions for them in Philadelphia were not ideal. Nick Foles had his first pick of the year but he had a quarterback sneak and continues with his winning ways by beating the Detroit Lions 34-20. The Eagles were helped last night with the Bears beating Dallas leaving Philadelphia in sole possession of first place in their division.
There will be no presents under the tree for the New York Giants (5-8) fans this Christmas, only coal as they lost to the San Diego Chargers 37-14. Eli Manning once again had a prototypical bad day with a couple of picks. Now mathematically eliminated, there will be no magic carpet ride this year The Giants are now playing for their jobs, pride and possibly the role of spoiler as any victories will be a “bah humbug!” on another teams playoff hopes and Christmas season.
