When we started this site, one of the driving forces behind the concept was to dispel the negative myths people have about our state. It’s very common for someone who visits New Jersey to be surprised at how different it is from what they expected. And it’s no different for swimsuit models.

New Jersey native MJ Day, a top Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue editor is a woman after our own heart. It was her idea to shoot in New Jersey for the 2014 Swimsuit issue and here is what she had to say about it:

“I’ve always wanted to shoot in New Jersey and in 2012 Hurricane Sandy hit this particular area which I’m actually from. I thought for the 50th Anniversary of the swimsuit issue it would be a perfect opportunity to allow New Jersey to shine and to shine the light on New Jersey. We travel all around the world to some of the most beautiful beaches and I definitely think the beaches here in New Jersey can hold up against them. My idea for this story was to show people how great it is and what a beautiful place it is and how it has recovered from the storm.”

We couldn’t agree more, but the models weren’t sure what to expect until they got here.

“When I first heard I was shooting on the Jersey Shore I didn’t really know what to expect but were here in Cape May and it’s honestly one of the most charming little towns I’ve ever been to in my life. I love it.”

“It’s kind of amazing that Sports Illustrated is bringing us here to bring awareness to this amazing place that is New Jersey. The sand is so white, so clean, everything is so beautiful.”

“There was definitely a surprise to see how beautiful the beaches were here and it’s obvious that New Jersey is really coming back”

Of course this is all common knowledge to residents. Photographers like New Jersey based Dangerous Glamour use our dozens of beautiful beaches for photo shoots all the time. From the open ocean and beautiful water to the inland scenery and vegetation, here are some photos from some other shore areas by Dangerous Glamour:
