Yesterday the annual Morris County Saint Patrick’s Day parade in Morristown drew thousands of people, most decked out in green, to the town. In addition to the usual suspects such as bagpipers, community groups and associations, and marching bands there was a distinctly noticeable group of marchers. And these has four legs.

This parade had the most dogs we’ve ever seen in a parade and they were a welcome site. Of course Morris County has one of the most wonderful organizations out there. The Seeing Eye, based right in Morristown, marched in the parade and by all the squeals and awws we heard when they passed by they were a big hit. The oldest guide dog school in the world, they evaluate puppies, determine which ones would make great guide dogs, and partner them with the blind.

In addition there was also the South Jersey Dachshund Club and the Greyhound Friends of New Jersey. Other dogs marched with other groups.

And Scooby Doo was also there.
