Over 150 tattoo artists descended on Asbury Park for the 5th Annual Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival this weekend. Artists from all over the area, and some as far Florida and Maryland, visited the shore town to show off their talents with ink and needle. Many of the exhibitors did live tattooing right on the premises with clients who made appointments months in advance or by walking right up to the table if there was a time slot available.
The event, which ends today, takes place in Convention Hall. The landmark is a great choice given the venues rich history and decorations featuring nautical themes which were a popular tattoo theme at many booths. New Jersey’s own Joey Tattoo, host of Spike TVs Tattoo Rescue, was on site and as expected drew a nice crowd.
In addition to the tattoo artists there was a variety of other sideshow events going on such as skateboarders, suspension contests, a burlesque show and the Miss Asbury Pin-up Contest.
