Three New Jersey natives have been selected to the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game being played at Target Field in Minneapolis this Tuesday. One pick is obvious. One is a certain first ballot Hall of Famer. One is a bit of a surprise.
What can one say about Los Angeles Angel Mike Trout? Oh I know. He is the best player in baseball today. Sorry but this is really not open to debate. Currently 4th in home runs and tied for third in RBIs the Millville Meteor is a force to be reckoned with. The scary thing is he is only in his 4th year.
New York Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter will make his 14th appearance in the All Star Game, an amazing feat for the Pequannock native. Jeter is in the middle of his retirement year after 20 seasons all with the Yankees.
On the other hand this will be the first All-Star game for Cincinnati Red third basemen Todd Frazier. The Point Pleasant native is used to being on winning teams. He was a member of the Toms River team that won the Little League World Series in 1998. In addition to the game Frazier will also represent the National League in the Home Run Derby.
