The All-Women Lifeguard Tournament takes place at Sandy Hook every July, weather permitting. Challenges include several aspects of surf-lifeguard work: running, swimming, paddling a surf-rescue board or ocean kayak and rowing a surfboard. Participants represent federal, state and municipal lifeguard systems from five states. This year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the tournament.

We had a chance to talk to some of the lifeguards including the Top Performer from Division I. From our own Asbury Park NJ team, here is Julianna Lee Cavano:

Don’t tell lifeguard Tracey Cahill that New Jersey is divided into simply North and South. She was adamant that Central Jersey does exist and I agree. She also established that where she is from Pork Roll is the accepted term.

Stephanie O Reyes is a member of the Long Brach NJ lifeguard team that topped the Division II final team standings.
