Over the past few years, we’ve been bringing you reports on just a few of the great downtowns around New Jersey and what they have to offer for holiday shopping. Now that more and more stores are opening on Thanksgiving and making retail workers leave their families for the day, we feel it’s more important than ever to support local businesses. Here’s a list of all the places we’ve visited so far:
- Montclair’s Watchung Plaza and Valley Road
- Summit
- Haddonfield’s Kings Highway
- Cape May
- Asbury Park
- Woodland Village, Clermont
- Maplewood
- Pitman
- Point Pleasant Beach
- Cranford
- Ramsey
- Manasquan
- Chester
- Frenchtown
Of course, we have more towns we plan on visiting this year. Saturday is our first shopping trip!
I’ve said it before in these articles and I’ll say it again: I LOVE shopping now that we exclusively shop local, independent stores for holiday gifts. I get gifts that no one else is finding and I get to ask shop owners and workers their opinion on what to buy. If you think you hate shopping, I strongly recommend trying this method and I think you’ll also find out that, like me, you actually hate department store and mall traffic and overcrowding.
Now, stay at home with your families this Thanksgiving and get out there on Small Business Saturday and Shop Local, NJ!
