Only four more shopping days until Christmas! Where are you going to go to finish up your gift list? Don’t go to a mall! It’s going to be crowded, hot and anger-inducing. Go to Main Street in Morris County’s Madison and leisurely shop the wide variety of stores while you sip on some coffee from one of the many coffee shops along the way.
Start out at Blue Ridge Mountain Sports shop and get the hikers and rock climbers in your family something nice and warm for some winter hikes this year.
Then, walk over to Madison Pet Shop and get something for your kitty or pooch. They love you unconditionally. Why not get them a little toy? They even had an adoption event while we were there so you could maybe get a little holiday kitten for someone! They also sell birds, hamsters and fish.
Short Stories is a really cool bookstore that calls itself the community book hub. They are very involved in community arts projects and they have a nice selection of gift books for adults and children.
Starting Line Sports has lots of running gear for your marathon-running friend or relative. Runners don’t even need to run marathons to enjoy some new running shorts, leggings or a jacket. Starting Line has equipment and clothing for triathlon participants, too!
Prima Tuxedos doesn’t have just tuxedos. They have lots of clothes and accessories for the dapper man.
Once & Again Consignment Shop is a treasure trove for the vintage clothes and home decor lover on your gift list.
I thought this store was particularly beautiful. The Blue Purl has all kinds of knitting supplies that are a pleasure to browse.
By far, the store with the most potential gifts packed in it was Tons of Toys. Perfect name for the toy mecca that it is!
British Home Emporium had gorgeous home furnishings and accessories that would make someone very happy.
BHE Studio is next door to British Home Emporium and they’re a related design store to the Emporium.
Time After Time wasn’t open when we visited Madison but their window-shopping made us think that it would be a great place to pick a special vintage piece for a gift. Call ahead to ask about their hours. ( )
The Rocking Horse has very special children’s clothing. Beautiful little dresses and baby items. They even have a little ballet section that’s adorable.
Beyond Bijoux is a jewelry and accessory shop with amazing rings and bracelets like we’ve never seen before. Check out their website and you’ll see some of the really cool copper pieces they have. Definitely check this store out!
Cambridge Street Papers has beautiful stationery, great calendars and all kinds of bags for those on your list who are hard to shop for.
Statements is aptly named for the great statement pieces for sale all over their boutique. Clothes, jewelry and accessories for the fashionista on your list.
DoodleBugz holds parties for kids who love to craft but they also have cute little accessories and toys for kids.
Home Sweet Home has lots of hand-painted furniture and vintage decor in a very romantic style that would be perfect for a new home owner.
Seasons Gifts and Home Accents have cute local pieces for proud Madison and Morris County residents. They have really cool state-specific pillows, too, if you know someone who’s especially proud of their home state. Hey, we’re proud of New Jersey!
There are only a few days left and we’ve just shown you more than a dozen stores where you can cross those last gifts off the list. So go to Madison. And, Shop Local, NJ!
