Roxy & Dukes Roadhouse in Dunellen was as packed as packed can be this past Friday. I have never seen the club so crowded as every single table was filled. Tables were full, people were standing all over and the bar was jam packed all night long. That is the power of vaudeville.
Le Vaudeville Noir is a variety show filled with burlesque style dancers, skits that include magic, comedy and song as well other stunts and acts. Roxy and Dukes is planning on having a show like this each month with a different array of acts and performers. Given the popularity of this evening that makes perfect sense.
Miss Ida Blue started off the evening and performed in between skits with her incredible blues style voice. Host for the night was magician Jaysin Katsikis who performed some awesome card tricks and dazzled the crowd. David Johns, one of Roxy and Dukes staff, was the comedian for the show and keep the crowd laughing while giving the dancers and artists a chance to get into their fantastic and elaborate costumes.
The main performers were Vivi Noir who came out and wowed the crowd with some stunning moves. Her final skit was an insane show that involved a bathtub and a champagne bottle and Attica Wilde who did a cool show on a couch and in a giant cage. Both performers were joined by some very talented and pretty young ladies known as the Follies, they consisted of Tigre, Joanne, Nadine, Jessica and Dolly.
The overall response was a great one as Roxy and Dukes is a cool club with lots to do and see. They have a great menu a very cool staff and even a pool table. Jim told me he is going to try and turn his outside back area into an entertainment space for a variety of shows and acts this coming summer. I recommend you definitely come out to a show at Roxy and Dukes very soon and see what you have been missing.
