Asbury Park band Seaside Caves kicked off their Spring tour last night and the atmospheric band just seems to get better and better each time we see them. Their 80s synth, Cure, New Order, Echo & The Bunnymen influence is right up my alley and their take on the genre is both reverential and fresh.

The band played songs off their debut self-titled EP that will be released on 10″ vinyl in July from Chunksaah Records. Advance copies are available at the Spring dates.

The band wanted a different kind of venue to kick off the tour and they picked an interesting one. We had never been to The Watermark before but it was certainly a picturesque host with the beach, boardwalk and ocean as the backdrop behind the bands. The mood was certainly set for some dark, neu wave tunes, especially once the moon made an appearance.

Some video from the evening.

Rockers Dead Overhead and synth pop band Microfossils provided support. Pics are below.
