No tickets?  No problem!  The New Jersey bands that are playing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are all playing free shows! Mumford and Sons’ Gentlemen of the Road Stopover is already a cool event.  Two days of camping on the beach and hours of headliner-worthy bands playing an ocean-side stage Friday night and most of the day Saturday.

If you’re into local music like we are, it’s just as exciting to see the giant list of local talent playing free stages around Seaside from Thursday through Saturday! Shows start at 5:00pm on Thursday and continue into Sunday morning with a show after Mumford and Sons leaves the stage. That’s a ton of free shows!

Here’s what we know so far about the local bands and when they’re playing. Some are playing for free on a large Ocean Terrace stage behind Lucky Leo’s, others are playing smaller venues on the boardwalk and surrounding areas.

Here are the bands playing the big stage:

Thursday, June 4th – Ocean Terrace Stage

Gates open at 5:00PM
Performing acts include the Von Mons, Garden State Line, Deal Casino, Accidental Seabirds and Tramps Like Us – a Springsteen tribute band.

Friday, June 5 – Ocean Terrace Stage

Morning free shows—starting at 11AM—will include sets from Milan and the Sour Goat, Wyland, Quincy Mumford & the Reason Why, Anthony D’Amato, Nicole Atkins and Kevin Devine.

The free show in the evening—starting at 11PM—will have Brick + Mortar and Vacationer.

Saturday, June 6 – Ocean Terrace Stage
Morning free shows—beginning at 11AM—will have Sammy Kay, Modern Chemistry, Thomas Wesley Stern and Pig Pen Theatre Company.

The final sets of the event will be on this stage—beginning at 11PM—with River City Extension and OWEL.

The Aztec Bar and Jax Garage will also be having free shows with many talented bands from NJ and surrounding areas playing.  We’re especially excited about these shows because we haven’t had a chance to catch many of this batch of groups yet!
