Rocky’s Jersey Grill is a stop on the 7th Annual YDKJ Hot Dog Tour that we’d really been looking forward to after we learned about it opening up a few months ago. They have classic boardwalk food and are open very late which is rare for a restaurant that’s off the boardwalk.
The hot dogs we tried said they were push cart style on the menu but they had a lightly deep-fried look.
There’s a lot of browning on there for a dirty water dog. It was delicious whatever they’re called on the menu. The chili was on the dry side of the hot dog chili spectrum but not too dry. I could have used a little more heat but that’s just my personal preference.
Sauerkraut was good too and you can see the toasted bun in the picture above which is a touch that I love.
We also tried a ribeye cheesesteak sandwich which had a little too much char on the char-broiled steak for me but was otherwise very flavorful and had great veggies. Sometimes the peppers and onions on these sandwiches are either too raw or too overcooked and slimy… the ones at Rocky’s were perfect.
The boardwalk fries were seasoned and cut pretty thick. They were not my favorite but a fine side dish to some pretty good sandwiches.
If you’re anywhere near Long Branch, you should definitely check out Rocky’s Jersey Grill for an elevated look at some boardwalk food classics.
