The Lantern in Haskell was a late stop on our 7th Annual YDKJ Hot Dog Tour. It’s a great little hot dog and burger place right on Ringwood Avenue in the middle of Haskell. They have take-out, eat in and drive-through service so however you want to eat is taken care of here.
Their Texas Wieners are fantastic. Deep-fried dogs with a nice smooth chili, mustard and white and green onions are a nice little departure from the usual all-white onion affair.
We also had other items on our stop which were all good, too.
The cheeseburger came on a really nice roll and lots of cheese. The burgers are thin but packed with flavor.
We also had a burger with gravy. The gravy tasted great and didn’t totally soak the bun so it was still easy to eat. The gravy tasted great on fries, too.
I really like their grilled cheese sandwiches here. This one I got with Taylor Ham and it’s pressed thin and had just the right ratio of bread, cheese and meat. A great alternative for me when we get near the end of the Hot Dog Tour and I’m starting to think about non-hot dog options.
The Lantern is a great little place and you should check it out whether you’re on a Hot Dog Tour of your own or just hungry in upper Passaic County.
