We told you about music blog Speak Into My Good Eye‘s 2nd Annual 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge back in August when they started spreading the word. You know the premise. Local musicians tasked to come up with a new song, written and recorded from start to finish, within a 24 hour period for a compilation album. This year was opened up to musicians not only from New Jersey but from New York and Pennsylvania as well since many musicians from these states play dates here all the time.
This time out 37 artists answered the call. The compilation displays an incredible and diverse amount of New Jersey talent. Deal Casino, Julian Fulton, Bern & the Brights, Aquino, Roy Orbitron, YJY and Dentist among others accepted the challenge and came up with some true gems. Even SIMGE’s Editor-in Chief Mike Mehalick came up with a tune that serves as the coda for the compilation.
This year all proceeds will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness. So you can pick up some wonderful local music form super talented folks and help a great cause.
