YDKJ is excited to premiere the new single “I Wanna Take You Home” by Montclair band Wild Americans. Just in time for those first warm Spring days, this mellow song will be perfect to cruise down the street with the windows down.

Introduced to us by our friend, Liv Lombardi, Wild Americans have been compared to Foxygen and MGMT. Hearing those comparisons was what got me initially interested. What fully hooked me was the vocal style mix which sounds like the convergence of Tom Petty and former Toms River band Prehistoric Forest.

The shared vocals on “I Wanna Take You Home” add a unique element to the song. Drummer Mike Neglia sings the verses and guitarist Andrew Milea does all the pre-choruses and choruses. Mike’s lower register gives the verses immediate depth and substance while Andrew’s lighter tone is great for the sing-along lines in the chorus. Fred Ilac’s steady bass keeps the groove.

The new single takes a turn from last year’s “Loser Freaks” which had a distinct space-rock ambiance.  “I Wanna Take You Home” retains the chill vibe from that track and embeds it in a more classic rock sound.

Listen below… I dare you to try not to fall under its spell!
